HNGRY Hosts LA Chef Conference Talk On Unbundling The Restaurant Tech Stack

Restaurant tech has spent the last decade convincing operators that every problem requires another piece of software. POS, payroll, scheduling, inventory, recipes, reservations, loyalty, marketing, accounting, reporting. Each new product created another login, dashboard, integration, contract, and line item on the P&L, while the largest platforms responded by bundling more of those products together. AI is starting to break that model apart. At the LA Chef Conference panel I moderated this week with Josh Sharkey of meez, Bricia Lopez of Oaxacan restaurant Guelaguetza, Ryan Handel of FIXE, and Nat Young of Blackbird, the conversation was supposed to be about what restaurant operators should build, buy, and stop paying for in 2026. What emerged was a much more interesting argument around what restaurant software is actually worth paying for when an operator can connect the underlying data from multiple systems, ask questions across all of it, and increasingly automate the work that used to require another SaaS product sitting in the middle.
