Maydan Market Builds Food Hall Collective Uplifting LA’s Diverse Culinary Community

After 3+ years in the making, Maydan Market has finally opened its doors in West Adams, Los Angeles. The 10k sqft former warehouse is home to a West Coast offshoot of Chef Rose Previte’s Washington D.C.-based Maydan and Compass Rose alongside four local concepts and a retail stall. The space is designed as a “collective” with a melting pot of local vendors subleasing 200-300sqft stalls with access to a shared 1.6k sqft prep space in exchange for percentage rent. The vision of a multi-ethnic food bazaar originated from Previte’s first restaurant, Compass Rose, which focused on international street food ranging from Georgian to Mexican to Lebanese. This week, HNGRY enjoyed Maydan’s hearth experience and sat down with Previte to unpack her model.
